i fried my power supply on friday night playing battlefield 1942 ... few hours into my game the machine shut down on me and i couldn't get it back up (it's at my age that E.D. starts to get to ya).
i think i'll build a 1.6 ghz machine with a gig of ram (damned photoshop) and at least a 60gig drive ...i've got good audio/video already.
i'll try and write something inspiring this week, but don't hold yer breath. |

i'm waiting to hear if i qualify for a wage subsidy program that will give me a new job doing something that doesn't involve comprimising my values to earn a paycheque like legalized loansharking did.
i really should shoot some pictures soon ...hanging around inside the old alcan factory lately has been extremely cool but i haven't had time to shoot anything.

LISTENING TO: the trews - yearning
...with its checkerboard floors ...no no, not that one. last night ...
we scampered along the highway through drizzle and fog to head to the big city ...i tagged along for the show even though i'm not playing yet so i could hang out and catch the band live. the rain stopped as we hit oshawa and the city was dry and warm.
it was a beautiful night so mike and i wandered off to grab some pizza and explore downtown in the evening ...after being told off in 2-4-1 pizza by a guy calling us 'suburbanites invanding his streets' we were standing out front of the club chowing down when we heard the words ''i'll cap you in the fucking head'' from a crazy lookin' dude that had been wandering around the club back and forth for a few minutes talking to himself... we decided to go inside and stay inside.
the rivoli is a cool room ...good p.a. good lighting, good sized stage ...pretty much the same as it was last time i was there.
mostlycharmless dragged his shaggy ass out to join me for a couple pints and some manlove (always a pleasure to see you andrew). great show by all three bands.
i passed out somewhere around oshawa (surprized i made it that far) ... got dropped off up the street and made it home shortly after 5:00am.
some of the songs are starting to speak to me with little voices telling me what to do ... i like hearing them. i'm looking forward to getting back on stage even more now.

i sat in on my first rehearsal with justin bird last week ... and after spending a couple days with the guys watching some recording i'll be headed to toronto with them wednesday to catch the show at the rivoli (if you're nearby and wanna go to the show, drop me an email i'll see if we've got a guestlist) it's been almost 9 years since i was there last ... robbie g/rex and i recorded a six song EP live off the floor in that room in april of 1997. the soundgirl was just awesome that night and offered to mix us for free AND to record the show for us.
i've figured out most of the tunes i'm supposed to know ... now comes the part of figuring out if i can play it with the band without ruining it.
i fell off my stool while practicing alone last thursday ... things are almost back to normal. |

i don't feel old ... but a teenage version of myself would probably tell me that i am.
